What this checker flags
- Trigger phrases grouped by type: money and pricing, urgency, overpromising, scam-like wording and pushy sales language.
- An all-caps or exclamation-heavy subject line.
- More than one link, prices in the first email, and words written in capitals.
- Emails that are much shorter or longer than the 50 to 125 words that work best for a first cold email.
How much do spam words matter?
Less than most people think. Modern filters judge your sending domain’s reputation, your SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup, and how people react to your mail far more than individual words. But the phrases flagged here are also the ones that make an email read like a mass promotion, and people ignore or report those. Rewriting them helps both your inbox placement and your reply rate.
How to rewrite flagged phrases
- Replace hype with a specific fact: instead of "guaranteed results", say what happened for a similar customer.
- Drop urgency you cannot back up. "Last chance" in a first email reads as pressure.
- Leave pricing and discounts for the reply, once they have asked.
- Keep one link at most, and no images or attachments in the first email.
- Read it out loud. If it sounds like an ad, rewrite it like a note to one person.
Your text never leaves this page. The check runs entirely in your browser.
Questions
Will removing spam words get me out of the spam folder?
On its own, rarely. Inbox placement depends mostly on your domain’s reputation, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and whether people open, reply or mark you as spam. Clean copy helps, but check your DNS setup and warm up new mailboxes too.
Is the word "free" really a problem?
One "free" in a natural sentence is fine. Stacked promotional phrases ("100% free", "free gift", "act now") are what make an email read like an ad. Treat each flag as a prompt to check the sentence, not a rule.
Is my email stored or sent anywhere?
No. The analysis runs in your browser and the text is never sent to our servers.
How long should a cold email be?
For a first email, 50 to 125 words usually works best: enough to show you researched them and say why you are writing, short enough to read on a phone.
